Nonprofits Turn to Constant Contact Online Event Marketing Tools for Cost Savings and Ease-of-Use

Chesapeake Virginia Wine Festival Saves More Than $7,000 through Partnership with Constant Contact, Increasing Funds to Charitable Cause

WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Constant Contact®, Inc. (NASDAQ: CTCT), the trusted marketing advisor to more than 400,000 small organizations worldwide, announced today that the Chesapeake Virginia Wine Festival for Charity reported more than $7,000 in cost savings using Constant Contact Event Marketing tool for the organization's inaugural event last fall.

The charity wine festival was organized by the Chesapeake Rotary Club, a group of Chesapeake business and professional leaders dedicated to providing service to the community. The event far exceeded expectations, attracting 7,800 attendees and raising more than $150,000 for cancer research.

Online registration and marketing were an integral part of event planning for organizers, who evaluated a variety of event marketing products on the market. In some cases, event marketing solutions charged a percentage of ticket sales, amounting to thousands of dollars in fees, in addition to a per registrant cost.

"Using Constant Contact for the event cost us $30. If we chose to pursue online registration management and event marketing using one of the other products we looked into, the Rotary Club would have potentially paid thousands of dollars in fees based on our overall ticket sales," said Roland Davis, Event Chairman. "Instead, that money is going to fight cancer. It was a no-brainer to choose Constant Contact."

While researching similar events to determine best practices, event organizers discovered that, typically, up to 50% of ticket sales for wine festivals take place at the gate. Concerned that bad weather could impact turn out and not wanting to risk fundraising for their charity benefactors, Davis and his team used Constant Contact to market the event and encourage participants to purchase tickets in advance through the tool's online registration and payment features. The result? A full 85% of the tickets were purchased in advance, dramatically increasing funds raised rain or shine.

"The wine festival is now our largest fundraising event of the year, and we look forward to working with Constant Contact to grow the festival and funds raised for charity in 2011," said Davis. "We are currently in the process of using Constant Contact's online survey tools to query participants in order to gather valuable input and further improve upon the event experience this year and beyond."

"Events like the Chesapeake Virginia Wine Festival have long been a clear ‘win' for organizations looking to raise funds," said Christopher M. Litster, vice president and general manager, Event Marketing Business Unit at Constant Contact. "The big difference is that planning and marketing such an event used to be time consuming and cumbersome; not anymore with today's online tools. We couldn't be happier to see that Constant Contact's Event Marketing tool not only streamlined the ‘work' involved in putting on an event of this magnitude but also put more money directly into the hands of such worthy charities."
